Hey guys now this isnt one of those how do i change my head gasket or can a noob change a head gasket. Im pretty sure that my head gastket has seen better days but i dont have the money to pay any one to fix it and i dont have the people who have the expierence to do it either. While searching on the forums today i found this sitehttp://www.rxauto.com/index.htm and their product Thermagasket. Now i searched and didnt find any refrence of it so any 1 have any expierence or know of any one who has. From what their site says it seems to have a 9/10 success rate and it will repair the head gasket. Im not looking for a premanate fix from this just something to hold me over till i get a better job.

Thanks for the help.

Have you performed a leak-down test?

1st off please remember that you are driving a performance turbo car. I read the testimonials of that gasket stuff. there was one turbo car. It had only been 600 miles, and an old volvo probably isnt running high boost numbers.

2nd your car is more than likely going to be that 1/10 that it didnt work on because of Murphys Law (whatever can go wrong will) You are using the kind of motor that I wouldnt go testing these products on...If it doesnt work its inducing something into your engine can lead to damage in other places because something always has to pick up the slack.

3rd find someone that can do the leakdown test, be sure your gasket is gone and dont mess around cause aluminum blocks and heads warp rather easily.

get a quality gasket like Apexi... super good stuff.I run it and I know its good because Ive torqued it about 5 different times.

Also, changing out the HG is a long process but isn't too bad but definitely 10000000x times easier if you have more than one person doing it because taking off the head by your self sucks.

On the SR, the most difficult thing to do in my opinion is...1) replacing the collars the valves (i do not have the right tool)2) taking off the upper oil pan.

If its not any of the two above... its not hard.

You still don't know for sure if your head gasket is bad, but you still insist on changing it.

Go to EM section of the FSM, page 39. "Cylinder head, removal and installation".

If you can't do something as simple as finding that page, your going to have a hell of time trying to remove your cylinder head.
