as you all know, a certain someone failed miserably at coordinating an event and rather than fixing it, he decides to disappear. I am currently trying to get a staff together for this event, and maybe find some things to do, so that we can salvage whatever is left of this. i know its a lot of work, but people bought non refundable tickets and took off time from work.

the reason i'm trying to get things together is because i want to see another national convention here in vegas in the future, but with this occuring i dont EVER see it happening again. and look at all the sponsors/promotors for this, that were just dropped. this is horrible on las vegas, and most likely the sponsors, etc will never want to do this kindn of business here again.

what i need is everyones help on a head count on who's still coming here and from where? i think a lot of you are staying at the frontier hotel/casino. with a few connections through a friend of mine, we might be able to set up a banquet room, and more things to do, but we need a general number we can work with. we cant rent a banquet room for 100 people and have 10 show up. After we get a decent head count, i'll try and post an agenda, and see if there could be any changes, etc.

thanks for your time

brent

I will be there for sure...But if you are even serious about trying to pull this off, you need to spread the word...

You might want to talk to the Las Vegas visitors bureau. If there were seriously sponsors who got dropped, and the interest truly was that big, they can find some way to hook you up. It is their job to bring big groups of people to Las Vegas to spend money.

Since the forums were just restored back about 3 hours, I'm posting simply for forum record that I will be there, as well as greg. And once again, my email is [email protected] and greg's is [email protected]

its hard to pull this off with so little time/participation of the locals. try this: http://nv240sx.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=325 thats doug's posse. so maybe they can fix what he mest up. heres some food for thought.

-strip club-cruise the strip-jillians (on the strip) pool, arcade, bowling, alcohol-drive the red rock loop-mt charleston?-wet and wild?-prim/buffalo bills (roller coasters)-buffalo wild wings-tgif-aloha kitchen

its too late to get a banquet room. its hard to reserve when the head counts 5-50+ and no ones definite and theres no source of funds. its real shady that doug cant even try to coordinate something to compensate for his mess. =\

I would rule out anything that requires people to be 21+, simply because there will probably be a lot of under 21 people showing up (but hey, if not, more fun for us!).

Also, I don't know about others, but I won't have a car there. I'm flying in. I suppose I can ride with somebody else though.

Anyway, I'm all about doing anything. It doesn't even have to be car related. Just hanging out with people having fun is cool with me. My flight comes in Thurs at like 10:15pm. Call me after I get out there and we'll meet up if nothing else. I'll be at the Frontier atleast. My cell # is 404-819-5496

I'm driving out on Friday and should be there about mid afternoon. (Cell# deleted). My later evenings will be reserved for the clubs, but I am down to get together otherwise. Except maybe when I sit down for some Texas Hold-em.

Hey ckwik, I plan on reserving my nights for the clubs as well. Give me a call when you get out there and we can meet up. What's your name? I'll try to give you a call if you don't call me.

Ok, this is going to be my last post before I leave for the airport, so....

Anyone who is going, give me a call. I found out Greg is no longer going, so that officially means I don't know anybody going anymore (atleast, not in person). So anyway, somebody give me a call or something.

Also, I have a room to myself for Thurs-Mon since all my roomies backed out. So if anyone needs a room to sleep in, call me. I'd be pretty happy if I found somebody to chip in on the room.

Anyway, signing off....see you guys this weekend (and maybe some of you tonight?)

For anyone still checking the internet...

I'm in room 2059 at the Frontier if anybody want to find me. There is a sign down in the lobby that says "2004 National 240SX Convention 7PM in the Upper Pool Area" so hopefully I will see some of you there. I have limited internet access, so don't expect me to be back in the forums this weekend. This stuff is expensive!

No, I flew. I didn't have a car out there. Plus, I don't have a 240SX.

Only people I got to meet out there were C-kwik (in a V35), and John (not a NICO member) in an S13 (with MN plates).

Everyone else I met were just locals, not staying at the hotel. We met up at In-n-out on Sat night at about 8pm.

So I really didn't get to meet many 240 people at all. However, I did have fun. I can say this, C-kwik knows how to have fun...I had a blast sat night man!

And also, Sunday night I got to meet up with a friend of mine that I haven't seen in 5 years. She moved out to San Francisco about 5 years ago (from Atlanta), and just happened to be in Vegas this weekend. That alone made the trip worth it!

Torry and I did see a black S14 with California plates. I'm thinking San Diego from a sticker that was on it.

Glad you had fun Torry. I think I had TOO much fun. Check-out time came way too early. Interestingly, I felt fine once I got out on the road to go home. I am glad the club was in the hotel I was staying at though. I probably would have been found wandering the strip since all my friends left before we did. :pface

God I love Vegas. The heat was a killer though...

Shaun - Keep in mind that NICO had NOTHING to do with that event.

If you have no luck contacting ICE Performance (Doug), I understand some people are considering collaborating to pursue legal action (for plane tickets, advertising revenues, etc.)

hmmm, Doug is quite hard to contact. You have to go to the shop personally cause I don't think he picks up his phone. I have a feeling no convention/events will be hosted by Las Vegas in the future

I will be MORE than happy to provide web space and bandwidth for people to coordinate this.

Keep an eye out here, we'll probably make a sticky thread in 240 Gen Chat.

He can delete posts off the NV240 forums, but not here.
