The only way to get to them is by taking off the cams first right?? I hate messing with the cams but there is no other way correct? Just read the cam alignment sticky on the Ka page to figure otu how to take them off. Up until now everyoen said all I had to do was remove the valve cover.....Beign told that if my HG is leakign at idle then my head is warped....Leaking oil not coolantWas told the hood was checked and it was fine..... ThanxAlso 70ftlb to tighten?? Or should I do a bit extra being it's a cosmetic HG.

yes, the head bolts are under the cams. the lower chain sprocket is also bolted to the cylinder head and will have to come off. set the engine to tdc before beginning the job. good luck!!

On the DOHC the cams have to come off; on the SOHC it does not.

Hmmm...been seeing a lot of "My MLS headgasket leaks" threads lately. Seems like so far, all have re-torqued and been fine.

Oh, and yes, you must remove the cams.

I don't know if I fixed mine or not. Has a PITA time putting the sprockets back on. Car won't stay alive. Got it to fire up and hit the throttle once and it kept alive but if i let off it dies instantly. Taking it to a shop wednesday. Hopefully when they fix my timing I no longer have a HG leak... I put probably half a turn on all the head bolts... couple maybe 3/4....

Car doesn't run. it Immediately dies. How would I fix this? Something I can do at the distributor? Or would have to the valve cover back off.... This is the reaosn I didn't build my engine, I hate messing with cams/timing components...... Thanx
