Im in the process of disassembling my motor for a rebuild later on. Everything was set at TDC on #1 cylinder but when i remove the front cover, the dots on the cams and idle sprocket are at their correct postions but dont line up with the marked links on the chain. The whole timing set is gonna be replaced anywayz but is this normal or am I juss getting paronoid. This is my first time crackin open a motor. Any advice would help.

crank the engine by hand, it will eventually line up with the marks.

if you ever do loose timing, you can redo it again, just line up the marks when the engine is @ TDC.(and when done and about to start the engine, remember to first hand crank it a couple of times just to make sure no valves hit the pistons, and then just crank then engine for oil priming)
