Okay guys... It's been a while since I posted anything on NICO I am currently in the middle of Project CAMO on my d-21..I have run into a small snag..In sanding down the bed I have found that it it utterly useless....

And I was thinking Is there anyway to salvage a bed that has more holes than swiss cheese?

Also I will post photos of Project Camo later *Please note it is not the Army Camo that hunters use*

Best solution is find a junked HB and get a bed.

Build a wood box for it if you are painting it camo.

This would work. I had the bed off my truck last year and was playing with a 2x4, and it lays across the bed perches very nicely. Just make sure you build it so that the rear end can articulate without the tire running up into the damned thing. Another thing would be that open wheels look great, but are illegal - at least where I live - so some kind of fender would be necessary unless it is an offroad rig.

I guess if the metal is strong enough still to where it isn't going to fall off the truck, then you can use a drop in plastic bedliner. I love the one that's on my truck. All these rumors you hear about them falling out is bulls***. I have thrahed my truck and it has never even budged. It is actually a pain in the a** to remove it. The metal underneath is not pretty, but the framework is still strong, so it's game for now.

Is that ^ what you were talking about, or is it the body panel part of the bed that is hit?

First off! I'm glad to see some familiar faces replying to this thread! thanks and What I am doing Would look better with the Nissan bed I am painting the truck in the Colors or the USS North Carolinas "Dazzle" colors form WW2 Which as I said isn't like the Ones you see in olive drab black and tan.

Its a hole about the size of Laptop hard drive and I'm iffy about how the rest of the bed is.. But! if it can survive paint! I won't have to worry about it!

This one is going to be Ocean Gray,Light gray,Black and Blue Because It was suggested I painted the truck camo by a good buddy of mine but I didn't want to be like everyone else.

Where at, in the bed or the body panel. If it is the body panel, you have to make sure that road spray isn't getting up through to the back side of the panel, because it will rust from behind the paint, like is what is happening on my truck. Once the wheel wells go, it leaves more exposed.

If the rust is on the inside of the bed(this what I did) cut it out and rivet sheet metal in, then fiber glass over it...then I had a spray in bed liner done...I mean the bed doesn't look perfect but it is alot better than it was...If it is on the outside of the bed than a new bed would be the answer...or if you know a good body man that can weld in some patches that would work too...Hope this helps...

This is just lovely... went to open my passenger door today and the handle came off in my hand.

How easy is this to replace?

door handles are easy to do, tricky part is getting the linkage back on.

Those damn plastic handles were never worth a crap. Why they didn't go with a metal handle on non-chrome package models is beyond me. All they had to do was go with a non-chromed metal handle! You'll need to pop off the interior door panel to reveal the innards. The handle itself is held on but 2 10mm nuts. The part that could suck will be getting the rods to pop back into their homes. Keep trying if it doesn't go the first few times. Roll the window up before you remove the crank handle.

Odd question..I know a guy that owns a machine shop... Couldn't I just have one made out of metal and not worry about it again?

That is outrageous.

Wait until some drift fanboy yanks his perfectly good KA24E in favor of an SR and pick it up for nothing. I don't know what is involved in that swap, but it would certainly cost less than three grand.

You could buy all the parts, tools and books to learn how to do it on your own for way less than $3000.
