Were the dual piston calipers only offered on 4wd's? And were they on all years of 4wd HB's? My idea here is that if someone wanted to upgrade a single piston caliper to the dual piston design, would it simply bolt on? Also, would the HB calipers bolt onto the 720 spindle?

I guess the HB calipers don't fit a 720 spindle.

Thanks for the efforts! I have some updates here...

4wd, and 2wd-v6 HB's came with dual piston front brake calipers that will bolt in place of the 2wd-4cyl HB's single piston caliper. This is just a better caliper. It's still a sliding type, but the twin pistons clamp the pads together more evenly than a single piston can, they have a better bite. IDK if the older late 80's v6 HB's had them, so don't lecture me on that, all I know is what I just said.

The 4wd style rear drums are also bigger at 11.62 inches innr diameter vs. 10.24 inch inner diameter for the 2wd drums. The 4wd shoes are about 1.5 inches longer each than the 2wd shoes. Thats an increase in friction area. But since every pound of unsprung weight equals 10 pounds of sprung weight, and I don't know exactly how much each style weighs, (2wd vs. 4wd), so IDK if it would really be worth it here since a solid rear axle is already bulky without the extra weight. I wish I had the drum weights...

Interesting idea with the V6 vs KA 2wd brake calipers. When I read that I jumped for joy except for one thing....my favorite brake company, who is the only one making carbon metallic pads for the HB, only makes pads for the KA single piston calipers. I only want CM pads on there because of the great luck I have had with them.

If they all used the same pads I would be good since I have a set waiting for install.
