I was looking at CodeRed's car on his domain page and noticed his hazard light is on the driver's side and airbag light is on the passengers side. Mine is the opposite. No big deal, just thought it was weird. Is anyone elses like this?

Early models had the hazard on the driver's side and the air bag light on the passenger's side. Not sure why they needed to do this change.

When did they make this switch? Let's get some production dates listed. Mine was built December of 2006, and my hazard switch is where it belongs (on the drivers' side).

A-HA!!!! Looks like Nissan doesn't even know which side they belong on.... Curiosity got the best of me, and I went to the Versa section on Nissan's website. Looking at the interactive photo/360 view page, they apparently used two different cars (both Beige interior SL models). In the 360 view, the hazard is on the left. In the still photo views, it's on the right. Both cars are Right hand drive. This is insane! Also, when did they start installing trim-level badges? My car doesn't have one.

It doesn't make sense to put the hazard on the passenger side and have the driver reach across to operate the switch.

Maybe the guys at the plant thought they were making right-hand drive Tiidas?

The service manual shows the hazard switch on the driver's side.

I'm betting the photos with the hazard switch on the passenger side are based on early pre-production Versas. To make promotional material for the car as early as possible, Nissan likely built pre-production Versas using many Tiida parts.

Perhaps current demand for the Versa is extremely high and they're using Tiida parts in some of the current Versas?

According to my dealer up here, they started putting on the trim-level emblem when the 'Sport' model was introduced. You can order the emblem from your dealer's parts dept.

My production date is Sept 06. Hazard light on the drivers side. And I believe they started adding the trim badges as of Jan 07.

You would think that the steering wheel or the void for the steering wheel would be an indicator Mine was produced Nov 06

OK... that creates an interesting new question.

On the ones where the hazard switch is on the wrong (passenger) side, does the harness inside the dash reach from one side to the other? If so, I suppose it's possible, if the holes are the same size, that the workers simply put them in the wrong order. If not, then there's either a revision or they had to use Tiida parts.

And yes, having the hazard on the pass side is wrong... you don't want to make your driver reach that far to hit it, plus the air bag status indicator is supposed to be in a position close and visible to the passenger whose air bag is uhm... indicated.

If the wires were stretched, then I'm certain you can reverse them yourself as well, even without unplugging the light.

I have the S Hatch - Hazard button on drivers side (bought my car in Oct. 06 so production would have been prior to that of course) and my husband has S Sedan (bought in March 07) and his hazard is on the wrong side - passenger side.

We thought maybe it was a hatch/sedan thing...but guess not.

mine has the SL badging on the liftgate. (5/07 mfg date)

Also, my airbag light is on the driver side and the hazard switch is on the passenger side. It's been annoying me that the airbag light is on my side. Anyhow, has anyone tried switching the two?

the switch holes are different......one has a pocket the other is an open hole...so you would have to find a center bezel that was set up that way

Ok so you guys are making me work here... I looked on FAST (nissans parts catalog) and it looks like the part numbers are the same for both hatch and sedan, and are the same no matter what production date (5/06-current hatch; 12/06-current sedan)......

A year later... did anyone figure out why the hazard light was moved? It is still on the right in 2009s.
