Towncivillians new sticky re: LED upgrade (Thanks Town-nice one) mentions Hazard switch bulbs.

Is the hazard button in a 1999.5 supposed to illuminate? Mine doesn't, and I forgot if it ever did...

The defogger button just bellow the hazard has a small lamp window that lights up when in use.

Thanks!

Yes, both the hazard & defroster switches are supposed to light up.

Thanks Town. I'll have to look at the FSM to figure out how to access those lights. Do you have to solder the little radio shack bulbs in there?

Might be a while before I change them though...

You don't solder anything. The FSM has no instructions on bulb replacement.

Remove the stereo cluster trim, disconnect harnesses, remove switches. On the bottom of the switch there are specific holes you stick screwdrivers in to allow the plastic to get out of the way of the clips that hold the thing together. Free all the clips and the thing should snap into two pieces fairly easily. Remove the bulb assembly with a small screwdriver. Unthread the old bulb with a small screwdriver and thread the new one in, clip leads, reassemble.

If you can, get a junkyard switch so you can practice disassembly and reassembly - it can be tricky. I've got probably two sets of R50 switches that are electrically compatible, but do not fit in my 01's trim. I might try to make a small DIY guide with pictures on bulb replacement.
