I have a video of a hyabusa going at top speed on my computer. I don't know exactly how fast he was going, but its at least 220 mph(Thats the highest mph reading on the speedometer). He was going 220 mph at 10k rpm, but went on to 11k rpm.

He also did a wheelie from 60 mph to 140 mph.... :)

it would be very scary having so much power you could pop a wheelie at 100+mph

hey megaseth, you see the Kaneda bike some guys were making of a honda silverwing?

I think it'll do about 90, but it looks dead on.

I can't remember where I saw it though:(

Why would you want so much power on a bike?? Is it because they aren't fast enough stock?? :rolleyes

To prove that you can. My bike makes 94hp, and is good for 10s, stock. The reality is, you can't push even a stock 600 to its limits - the limiting factor is ALWAYS rider skill. Modifiying a bike is just for fun. And besides, almost 600hp! :collapses:

That's some SERIOUSLY fast bike.

There is a guy locally that is friends with one of my neighbors that has a turbo Busa. I wanna say it dynoed in the 400 range if I remember right. I have seen it make 5 second 1/8 passes at about 150mph or so. It is mad fast. I would prolly piss myself riding it.

Probably.. I don't keep up with exact specs (I'm quite happy with what I have - my attention is on my S13 right now), but the 600RR from Honda is 117, the R6 from Yammie is 122, and those are 600s.

There is rumor that the '04 R1 will have in excess of 160hp. That scares me - I realize that a horsepower war is on, but it's becoming excessive. Where will it stop?

Hp numbers on these (real world) bikes isn't really key. Most any sportbike can make a sub-11sec pass. They're all lightning quick! I'd much rather dwell upon the leaps in tech that these bikes have made in all areas, and how insanely fast they are around a road course when you plug the numbers into a power to weight ratio. Gixer750's can cut mid 9sec quarter mile times, so can 1000's. The 600's aren't far behind that, even in complete factory trim.

Put the ability to cut a 10 second quarter(or better) together with a wide open set of curves, or better yet, a closed course or track, and you've got the perfect recipe for big thrills at high speeds!

It will change your life! or kill you. That usually has to do with maturity/ability though.

Absolutely true. And honestly, the only reason I want the literbike is for a bit more torque around town (Austin is QUITE hilly).

It's all about rider skill. And while I may not be Nicky Hayden or Valentino Rossi, I ain't so bad. And I'm learning more every day.

I think the V-Rod puts out more hp than a stock civic si('99), probably doesn't handle too great though, but hey, it looks cool and sounds mean:)

V-Rod: A 106hp / 72LbFt, modern liquid cooled 11XXcc powered, DOHC, 4-valve per cylinder V-twin, in a raked-out, trick-looking dragsterish chassis. Weight is approximately 600lbs wet.

Best quarter of 12.55sec @ 107.62mph.

Stock Si is 160hp. Not even close. They handle like crap. Actually, they might be phenomenal handlers, but you will never know because you don't have enough ground clearance to lean that pig over. But they really do handle like crap.

After all, it's a Harley. They leak oil, every part is $127 (including the bolts), and are designed to misfire. I have a problem with a vehicle that's tuned to misfire from the factory. Where do you think the sound comes from?

I think somebody needs to sell that guy a three foot swing arm! I was playing with the idea of boosting my Hornet but after watching that Busa yoyo up and down with the boost I'm seriously rethinking that:eek:

the bad thing about a turbo busa is when you come out of a turn, the boost kicks in at a really bad time if you arent careful. you get a little lag going in and through the curb, and as you come out, if youo arent careful, you'll get boost real fast at an angle and by-by busa rider. i know we're talking about japanese bikes, but what about italian bikes. Ducati, Aprilia, and the like. how do thoes fair?

As far as stock power, Italian bikes compete well - neither Ducati nor Aprilia make a supersport 600 - Duc's smallest is a 748cc, and I don't even know if Aprilia makes something inbetween a 250 and liter - they make killer 2-stroke 50 - 250cc bikes, and killer literbikes.. I am truly not sure if they make a midsize bike.

As far as boosting an Italian, I've never heard of it being done. Might have something to do with the ridiculous cost of the bikes - cheapest supersport Ducati is about $15,000, on up to $30,000+ for the top of the line Ducati (999R) and Aprilia (RSV-R) bikes.

FYI, most Italians are V-Twins (all Ducatis are), and dont' directly compete with the 'Busa or most Japanese bikes. The Honda RC-51 and the Suzuki SV-1000S are the only v-twin literbikes I can think of that's not Italian (I'm sure there are others, they just escape me right now).
