When I pull the lever, the trunk latch opens. When I let go to go open it, its locked. I need 2 people to open the trunk. OR when I insert the key in the back, i turn it and it doesn't move unless i pull up on it.

I've noticed the rubber things on either side, don't make contact when the trunk is closed. my hydraulic lifts are not bad, they keep the trunk open but they're not to strong.

I bought a latch from someone in the classifieds section. Didn't work.

What is supposed to give the trunk that initial push open?

yo i had the same problem...so i took the center cover off (at the latch) and with a pair of needle nose pliers bent the little part that the cable hooks into. Whats happening is that the latch is not completly opening cause the cable is stretched or the little tab is bent .its supposed to click open

in the hatch were the latch hooks into ...take the center inside panel off (2 finger nuts) and you will be able to see the cvable were it hooks into the latch bend the tab towards the latch away from the cable ....the latch was made to click open when the handle by the seat is pulled....even though youare getting the hatch to open its not opening the latch all the way thats why its shutting back as soon as you let go of the handle.........good luck......simple fix

nope the hatch doesnt pop-up the actual latch hold the hatch until you get back to pull it up.thats why the latch clicks open until you push or shut the hatch...are you hearing a click when you pull the lever?...........if not its the tab i told you about. its such a small adjustment the diff between good and bad

I'm having an issue with my trunk as well... when I pull on the release lever, it'll unlock... but, when I let go of the lever, it'll lock. I have to go outside to open the trunk with my key and that can be a pain in the a** at times. what would fix that problem??

This was a problem with my N/A as well. Adjust the latch mechanism down a tad. You can just loosen the bolt, not take them out, and tap the actual latch mechanism lower. I believe there are three bolts, and if you don't get it level, it'll cause issues of not opening at all.

Check around and see if you can find someone who has shaved door handles or does shaved door handles. These are usually equipped with springs to get doors to pop open after the remote releases the locking mechanism. They could tell you how strong a spring to use to get your hatch to "jump" open. You might have to experiment to get the right spring that will not pre load the cable to the point where it will not release.

This car doesn't use springs. It's an out of adjustment latch, and I'd put money on it.
