Having trouble with temp gauge

I recently installed an autometer electrical transmission temperature gauge, when I turn on the car, the dial rises a bit, and when I turn it off it drops, but it wont read the temperature while driving, I will always remain below the 100F and wont move. I triple checked the connections, they are good, the dial rises and drops which indicates that the gauge is turning on and off, I checked the temp sender is it also good, resistance drops as temperature increase, what could be wrong?

Is it just a busted gauge, which I’m not too heart broke about, auto-meter has a 1 yr warranty, but want to rule out other problems before i start the process of replacing it
