I'm sick of using an FM transmitter or CDs. So I went around online and all sorts of sites say that my stereo (Sony CDX-RA700) has an "Aux Lite auxiliary in" for connecting mp3 players/portable dvd players or whatever. None of these sites actually say where it is or how to work it though. There is a 1/8th jack at the back of the unit, but when I connect an iPod to it with a male-male audio jack wire the stereo becomes completely unresponsive and doesn't play anything. Any advice NICO? I'm stuck. Cookie to whoever solves this.

Usually the port is on the front of the face of the HU or on the back like your unit. All you have to do is plug it in and switch the mode to AUX on the radio, thats it. If it's not working your radio may need to be serviced.

Well there's no other 1/8th connections on it, front or back, and the only other unused connections are the red/white audio out L and R and a "BUS in" red/white.

Your looking for the us audio in jack to the left of the front and rear rca outputs. The jack that you were trying to plug into is for the optional wired remote. So what kind of cookie should I expect?

That's what I thought! I'm going to have to go to Radio Shack tomorrow to return my two end headphone jack and get the proper red/white to headphone cable.

Pff, fine. Now my next problem Apparently my sub is playing voice, which I saw in the FAQ is a big no-no. Unfortunately I don't see any cross-over type switches or settings on my stereo, amp or sub. It's not playing the voice LOUD, and it must've been doing this since the owner installed everything way back when. So I'm not sure if it's really even hurting the sub. Any suggestions?

It's not really all that bad. What amp do you have? There is a low pass filter on your head unit, you just have to turn it on.

Sounds like you're familiar with the CDX-RA700? Anyways, It's an Alpine 3522 Duo B Circuit amp. Sub is a Bazooka somethingerrather.

Talk about old school, what's the manufacture date on that 1990? Really don't know anything about it at all, but know how to find things.

Got me. No date on the amp and I don't have any of the papers for anything in this system.
