Hello everyone , i just finished installing everything back in order on my ka24de. The headgasket needed to be replaced, i have no emissions on my vehicle. anyways iv'e looked at the vacuum diagrams but im still not sure about these two components , the swirl control valve and the fuel pressure regulator. do these components need to be installed with vacuum to run and if they do where should they be installed. also should i just plug the line coming from the egr. the engine will run for about 10 secs then it just bogs out. iv'e done the timing on this motor before so im pretty sure the timing is correct. i had the motor in tdc with distibutor rotor pointing at 1. i also want to be sure about the fuel lines, i installed the line coming from the filter to the right fuel rail connection and the return line to the left fuel rail connection.

ok so you need vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator for the car to run right. you want to use one of the nipples on the back of the intake log. as far as the intake swirl valve i just locked mine open with a piece of wire i believe its natural position is closed but i cant remember now, it controls a set of butterflys in the intake manifold so not hooking up vacuum or not pining them open could cause you problems but again im not shure if thay are open or closed when there is no vacuum.

If your not runing the swirl control you should of gutted it out when the intake was off for the head gasket, it seemed to help my car out. And you DO need a vac line to the fuel pressure reg.

thanks alot for the reply i went ahead and tried connecting the swirl control valve and fuel pressure regulator to the back of the intake plenum on that little vacuum looking connection near the where the brake booster line goes. i connected them with a splitter , so please tell me if this is wrong because it actually got worse the engine would not start. do i need to connect them to the actual air intake(which is stock)utilizing the metal vacuum gallery lines. also should i just plug the egr vacuum line? and as for the swirl control valve i wouldn't know where to start when attempting to pin it open with a wire. thanks alot the help is much appreciated
