ok first let me ask...what are factory specs of the mains on the crank? I come up with a measurement of 2.224in on the crank with a 2.297in with bearings installed in block. which leaves me with a clearance of .073in. Now following the FSM for the S15 SR that exceeds the standard and limit by a long shot...were talking can't see the target. The bearings I pulled out are STD... thats what I looked like when I saw that, and then that thinking of the last person to own the car. is it worth grinding crank at this point?

That is a massive discrepancy there...

You may be able to have it ground, just depends on weather or not you can get bearings that far undersized. It may be simpler/safer to just find a new crank. Good luck!
