ok heres the problem, i recently put in a new ka24e engine in my car, the clutch was relitivly new so i didnt bother replacing it when i put the new onegine in, well now the clutch is making noises like a kind of growling when the pedal is pushed in, it happens rarely, but most of the time i am having problems with the clutch, it just dosent like to disengage to shift to a different gear. i was thinking that the growling is cause by a bad t/o berring and the fact that im having problems with the clutch hydrolic system not working right (thers a leak some where) is that possiable? And second, i just recently modifyed my gauge cluster with a few colored bulbes and leds, so that the numbers appear a dark blue and the needles are like little blue neons, but since the mod my tach has not worked correctly, when the car starts it still reads 0rpm then when i reach about 35 it jumps to the very end of the tach, and then moves backwards as i accelerate, but only after 3500, i think i reversed the polarity of the motor for the tach...or just plain f***ed it up... had anyone had this problem or something similar to it, or anyone know a way to fix it? thanks for all of ur help.

don't know about the clutch but I would swap the tach back to orig to see if you jacked up somehitng while you switched the bulbs.

clutch problems sounds like you have a bad pilot bearing. Since these usually stay with the motor if you buy a used motor that is more than likely your problem.

yeah i know i kinda laughed when the gauge messed up, its real funny cus it reads 9k all the time untill 35 then it moves backwards....... im betting i f***ed it up royaly, and i dont think its the pilot berring cus i did swap everything to the new engine, especially things with the clutch cus the engine i got was an auto. it dident do it till about 2 weeks after i finished the install, i do believe that it is something to do with the clutch system cus i have to hit the clutch pedal about 3 times to get it to go into first, but after that theres no problem it works relitivly fine, its quite puzzling. im thinkin that there is a leak somewhere in the line thats causing the clutch not to disengage properly when ready to shift, and after hittin it repeatedly it builds up pressure to use it for a little while..... i dont know...i want it all fixed....im thinking of replacing the entire clutch system all together. again thanks for all of ur help

The pilot bearing doens't unbolt with the clutch. It is in the crankshaft. If you didn't swap the pilot bearing it will cause all sorts of grief when you try to shift because the input shaft won't be able to spin independantly of hte motor. the growling is what makes me think it is this.

Yet, in your second post you didn't mention any noise. If you can pump the clutch pedal and that resolves your problem then bleed the hydraulics. To be honest with you, sometimes stuff is a little hard to diagnose over the internet. Its mucheaasier if you have the car.

i agree it is hard to describe what it does especially over the internet, but i thinki might have figured out the culprit, a bad clutch master cylindar, i wont know for sure untill saturday, when i have time to check it. but if it is faulty im thinking of gettin a rebuild kit for it as a cheap way to fix it, or i might just buy a whole new unit. thanx for ur help
