Hello there I am having trouble with my Qx4's driver rear stop light I have replaced the bulb, replaced the brake light switch, and checked all the fuses. Yet it still wont come on when the brakes are pressed. The passenger brake light and the right half of the upper stop light are working. I just noticed the license plate lights are not working also. Any ideas what could do this. Right now i am checking the wires from the stop light switch to the bulb its self any ideas?

The license bulbs are probably just dead. Replace them, they take 2 168 bulbs.

If you move the passenger bulb into the driver's side taillight, does it light?

you replaced the brake light switch for no reason, because if it was the switch then none of your (3) rear lights would have worked.

The 1157 bulb that you should be using has 2 filaments inside it - a dim one for when your headlights are on, and a bright filament for when you apply the brakes.

Is the dim one coming on when you turn your headlights on?

are you using the correct 1157 bulb? The similar 1156 bulbs that are used in our turn signals and reverse lights are only single filament.... it would fit right in the brake light socket but it won't work correctly....

Update: after looking around the internet last night, i found a reply somewhere else that said to unhook the passenger side assembly and hook it into the driver side and see if the problem changed places. When i hooked the passenger side into the drivers side harness and the driver side into the passenger side the problem switched places. So this evening I went looking for the harness for the driver side taillight assembly. After calling all the junkyards here in orlando with no luck i gave in and called the Infinity dealer. They had one in stock, and when i went to them I asked them if it was a common problem since the had it in stock, and they said yes its very common problem. I replaced the switch the bulbs and all pulled apart my car for no reason trying to figure it out. Also the brake light worked without the headlights on but was only dim without the headlights on. Once I get home today hopefully this is the solution the part was around 50$ including tax. I will update again once it is all working tonight

to answer fueler's question yes I has using 1157 bulbs
to answer towncivilain's question yes i replaced the bulbs with new ones, not the license plate bulbs which i will do tonight

Good to hear! I hope you didn't pay too much for the harness.

Does the driver's side half of the top brake light work now?

yes it all works now. I only payed 50$ for the harness. I checked all the local junkyards and noone had either the car or the part. I was kind of in a hurry to fix it so 50$ is better then being without for a week or so
