i think that the idle rpm on a 90 single cam 240 is 700rpm...mine is always at 1000rpm and sumtimes even up to 1500rpm if the car has been running for bout more than an hour... sumtimes the car boggles when i open the throtle to start driving... im thinking maybe i need to c the timing on my distributor cap? maybe change the angle and stuff but idk? wut do u guyz/galz have to say or know bout this issue?

hrrmmm... yeah sounds familiar... my problem is similar, you can adjust the idle screw (on the back of the intake mani) if you think that will fix your problem... unless your problem is like mine in the way that the idle fluctuates alot (mine goes from about 1000 to 500 or less, almost dies)... in which case i dont know what to tell you cause i havent figured it out yet... im thinking the IACV might be messed up? idk..

Got that problem too. I was told to check the timing on the distributor as well, so that is most likely all you have to do. If that doesn't work, then idk

ever get anything worked out? I know my timing is ok... its set to about +19 (stock is +15... i run 93 octane) i just bought a new cap and rotor kit and a new coolant temp sensor for the ecu (i heard these can cause weird idle problems) havent put them on yet though.

Oh and by the way the fsm says idle should be 750 + or - 50... so yes 700 to 800 is normal.

Check the IAA unit. Its located by the firewall under the intake manifold. The adjestment screw is on this unit. I know they have a lot of problems with this in DOHC models. There's a thing on it on the old FAQ:

http://www.240sx.org/faq/index.html

Also search for it...

hey thanks for the link man, lots of good stuff in there. Yeah your right, it looks like 99% of all cases point to the IAA. I guess im gonna go ahead and pay the 200 for a new one.
