So mainly I took the little bolt that hold it in place off and then used a pipe wrench to unstuck it.. it did turn about half a turn then the cheap metal just scattered in the wrench.. right now i'm stock with the part of the speedo that goes INSIDE the transmission, the rest that was sticking out is just too weak to be used to pull the rest of the speedo out of the transmission.

I don't really need it since I want to swap a S12 speedo cable inside it, which is mechanical, but i do need to take the old S14 speedometer out by any mean so i can slide my S12 cable inside the gear. I found this picture while i was looking on the net:

And this is the assembly according to NISTUNE:

25010Y would be the sensor
32703 the pinion
32703E the ring lock which i guess hold the pinion to the sensor

I was thinking about using a dremel and take it out by cutting it in pieces but is there any easy way to take it out? mine is litterally stuck inside it almost like if it was press fitted inside.

that sounds very confusing... at least im very confused... lol i do know one thing. you posted in the first pic two speed sensors. one is for s13 manual (lower) and one is for s14 automatic (upper). i dont know if you intend on using one of those, but it sounds like you want to use the s12 cable?? i know i had my speed sensor fall apart while taking it out (s14) but im still lost on what exactly your asking.

I found the first picture on the internet randomly, mainly I have a KA24DE that i am swapping in my S12. I need to insert my S12 speedo cable inside the S14 transmission. but i f*** up the S14 sensor big time when i was trying to take it out.

Mainly the question is if there is a good way to take it out without crushing it (so I know next time) and if it's a bad idea to use a dremel to take what's left from the sensor.

maybe this quick paint will help you to understand my situation:

One last idea is to pull it by the shaft of the sensor, but I'm scared that i might pop off the lock-ring and have to open the transmission to pick the gear and the ring inside it.

I took the bolt off and started to rotate the sensor in it hole with a pipe wrench, the sensor took a crap after a quarter of turn.

iirc you dont need to use that much force....

a dremel is a bad idea, because you could damage the grooves that gear fits into; plus pieces could get stuck in the trans

Well the sensor would not move just by hand force so i had to go to another level ..which was the pipe and .. oh well.

Do you think that if I pull the sensor by the shaft of the gear (it's still sticking out) it might work? My only concern is if the lock-ring snap and decide to go down in the transmission with the speedo gear..

if you take a dremel to it, then your going to have to separate the trans. if you pull the shaft you might get lucky and not lose any pieces in the trans. so you dont have much options.

Yeah I guess you're right on that.. im gonna give it a try with a torch and some vicegrip to pull on the shaft, or i'm undecided yet, with heat or not? i do need the gear from the S14 and it looks to be made of some sort of plastic from the picture and i dont want to melt it :/

f*** i hate when some stupid stuff like that happen lol
