Having car inspected or not

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello. We're in the process of buying a 2011 EX35 Journey with a hair less than 10,000 miles. It's from carmax, one owner, clean carfax, no fleet or rental use. My question is would you take it to Infiniti and have it inspected or not since it's still under factory warranty. We will be getting an extended warranty since we can get a great deal on one through USAA. Opinions? Thanks.

Trust your gut. If you have a good feeling and you have given it a good test drive and an ocular pat-down, you should be OK since it is still under warranty.

If your gut tells you that you should take it to the dealer for a look, trust your gut a take it in.

Here is my 2 cents
Your hopefully next car seems to be in mint condition with very low mileage and quite recent...having said that and coming from a German car enthusiast I would advise you to run the VIN number with the infiniti dealer for a complete service history.
Any carfax or car proof is good to have HOWEVER keep in mind that god forbid the previous owner was implicated in a major repair and or collision and was never declared it will never show up in the said report
I know it is highly unlikely but still you better be safe than sorry

Lastly for our second car I decided for peace of mind and also went with an EX especially since any German car will never be as reliable as a Japanese car and a Japanese car will never have that special German "je ne sais quoi" so pick your poison

I would personally spend a $200 for an infiniti inspection just to make sure it does not require anything in the short term
You cannot go wrong and welcome I advance to the club!

I would have to agree with your 2 cents. Having access to the complete history will give you a good idea of where that vehicle has been the last three years...hopefully.

If the history comes back clear, I might skip the inspection....only if everything, including the tires appear original.

The money might be better spent on an Infiniti Elite extended warranty. I personally think that piece of mind is well worth the investment.

I agree, coming from the other perspective there is just something about German cars...I don't know what it is everything is so heavy and they often smell of crayons.

Look at it this way, even if it's never had the oil changed, at less than 10k miles it is unlikely that small amount of neglect could have damaged anything. Basically that is the only thing that it would have needed in the first 10k miles.
