having a vibration problem seems to be coming from transmission

It is a vibration that happens when i start my car. And then when I get on the highway and drive for a while it will vibrate while i am coming to a stop. I had my family packed in the car on Friday and the weight made it worse. I don't know if it is the transmission or motor or what. It's a 94 pathfinder 4x4.

I would start with the driveshaft. Get under car, grab shaft by u-joints push/pull different directions and twist and see if there is play in those joints.

Does you car go clunk when you go from reverse to Drive?
