Hey everyone.

I have a 2016 SL.
For some reason, not sure what my wife did. LOL

Every time she is buckled in on the passenger seat when she goes to lean forward it locks on her. She has tried to unbuckle and let it retract back and try again but still same issue with it locking only when she leans forward. I know when she lets it retract it makes a ratcheting sound. It does work fine when she has to pull the seat belt to buckle up.

Any info would be appreciated .

It is the "automatic locking mode".

If you pull the shoulder strap all the way out the "automatic locking mode" will engage. This is used for securing child seats. To disengage the feature simply let the shoulder strap fully retract.

When your wife is leaning forward she is causing the shoulder strap to extend enough to activate the feature. The only solution to get a seat-belt extender or instruct her to not lean so far forward.

she has let it retract all the way and still locks. She also barely leans forward and it locks.

Shes gonna want this fixed. Shes not going to go for an extension.

If you've got less than 36k miles on it, then you're still covered by the warranty. Take it to the dealership.

It's still under warranty. Maybe I'll just do that. Let them fix it. Thx
