Having a problem with the Lighting

I have a 1992 240sx convertible. When the headlight switch is on, the taillights don't work and one headlight lights up. When the brights are on the opposite headlight comes on. I have brake lights and turn signals.Does anyone have any ideas to fix it?

Your low beam on one of your headlights is burnt out, replace that light.

Check your fuse for the tail lights, otherwise it sounds like you've got a short in there somewhere, possibly a relay might need to be replaced. But sounds like two seperate problems to me. Replace the headlight first and see what happens.

My understanding is that the actual stalk on the steering wheel can go bad and give a bad connection.

My front right headlight doesn't come on.. replaced the bulb with a new one.. checked fuses.. no luck. So in my searching I read other threads about people needing to replace the headlight lever on the steering wheel.

^ Had that before, it was the stalk for me, replaced it and it was fine.

Nissan dealership should have them relatively cheap.
