One day i went out to start my q45 and it would crank over but would not start. Thought it was fuel pump. Changed that and still no good. So i had my friend take a look at it, owns a import shop. He was on it a few days and diagnosed it a fatal wiring problem to do with relays and such?? he said it would cost more to fix then the car is worth? any one out there can help me>> knows a little more about the q45 and is this a common thing that has happened? any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Well, with no maintenance history, all you will get here is WAG.

But I will tell you you are making a big mistake believing a friend who knows nothing about the VH45DE instead of sourcing a competent Infiniti Senior Technician. Bet you didn't see and FSM, TSB nor a Consult with G50 cards in sight?

Your "friend's" advice is worth less than what he charged you for it.

Yeah, really not enough information to give you much advice, but I can tell you this:

I've been reading this forum for 4 years - have read most every thread ever posted - and I have never heard of a fatal wiring problem. Sometimes, while working on a live engine or doing a backwards battery jump or something like that, you can fry some electronics. I do recall one instance where the wiring harness had shorted out from rubbing on a fender well.

I understand the part about the days your friend looked for the problem - he definitely found something wrong with the wiring - but it's really doubtful that the repair would cost more than the car is worth. It sounds like when he replaces relays they just blow again, and there's a short somewhere in the harness. He doesn't know the engine, so he's telling you he's in over his head.

You need to get a Factory Service Manual. You can download one from here:

Then get it to someone who can diagnose electronic gremlims. My guess is that it will cost well under $1000 to fix, even if you've fried a bunch of stuff. There are all sorts of used electronics available from NICO members parting cars, as well as ebay and local junkyards.

And welcome to NICO!
