When I put the CAS bracket on the motor, and slid in the CAS, I noticed the back of the CAS is hitting the cam gear bolts, so not allowing it to seat all the way in. I'm using the stock bolts and washers from the stock cam gears and Kelford 272's. I thought about machining down the back side of the CAS housing, but it's paper thin. Anyone else had this problem?

do you have your front cam cover on? If not the difference will make it rub and grind into the rear of your CAS.

You'll have to use some washers to space the CAS off the bracket to compensate the thickness of the front cover if it's not being installed.

Yep. I did that once and it shaved some metal off the back of the CAS. I'd run the front upper timing cover if I were you. It will keep you from accidentally dropping stuff down there when the engine is running or you are setting the timing etc.

the CAS is spaced from the cam gear by the front cover and the washers that sit between the cover and the CAS. You need both for proper spacing. It's not a bad idea to glue the washers to the front cover so they don't fall off when you're installing.

Well, that explains it. I'm not running the upper timing cover at all. I didn't realize that the bolts went through the cas and the timing cover before the bracket. I'll throw some small spacers in there and call it a day. It's been so long since i took all that stuff off that I had forgotten about the cover being a factor. Thanks fellas, and thanks Ricky.
