Have you tried running it w/o the thermostat?

I could be completely off in left field with this because I don't have much ecperience with Nissans but I just had a similar issue with my eclipse. I flushed the radiator and replaced the thermostat before I decided my problem was electrical. Then I ran some new ground wire. After alot of head scratching I found out that the alternator was putting out about half as much voltage more than it should and that was causing everything to go crazy. Just something to think about.

My sr does a similar thing, does fine aroud town but hit the interstate and the coolant temps start to hover just over 200, which makes me nervous.

I have noticed that the temp won't get up as high if I only go about 60 which makes me think that the water pump is beeing over driven(already a know issur on sr's) and causing the coolant to circulate to fast. So, I figured once I got some spair monies I would pick up a set of under drive pulleys, and throw on the one for the water pump and see if it helps the issue.

Not sure if this will solve your issue but it might help.

I had a similar thing as well. This is what I did to combat the rising temp while on the highway. I replaced the coolant to 50/50 Prestone.*make sure you have replaced the water pump*Replaced thermostat w/ a Nismo (SR) thermostat.Aluminum rad w/ a good set of fans + Derale thermostat fan controller.*invest in a radiator cooling plate*My
