Having a brain fart!!! What should my temp be on my 03 m45? It's about halfway

It has been a while since I drove my M, and I can not remember what the temperature is normally at. I think it should be running cooler, but I am not sure. I am in MD and the temp outside is about 35 to 40 and my gauge shows my car temp being half way between C and H. Is this normal? Thank you guys for your help.
