...every year at SEMA they always "go big" with the most amazing display and the best complement of one-off custom vehicles. I've always respected the fact that they didn't take bailout money, too.

However, i've never really been a fan of the cars - They've had the same "feel" since the mid 80's to me (hard to describe, but blindfolded, I could hop in one and tell you I'm in a Ford).

Of late, a couple of their products have caught my attention:

The Focus hatch shows up, and aside from the God-awful front bumper (Shogun / Combat / EVO ricer-influenced crap), it's one of the sexiest designs on the road.

But most of all, the 2013 Fusion. Granted, the first-gen Fusion is a retarded-looking (but solid and well-proportioned) rental car. The 2013 revamp, even with its blatant ripoff of the Aston-Martin front end (excusable only because Ford still holds a minor share of Aston after selling it off in 2007), is one sexy car. AND, they're building it in a hybrid configuration, which pleases me.

I think Bex and I will go drive one when they arrive at dealers, and maybe we'll whip up a comparison: 2013 Optima Hybrid vs 2013 Fusion Hybrid. We're still a few years away from buying a "road-trip" car, but by then, they will have 3 years' depreciation factored in and should be available in the $15-$18K range.

The whole car looks very well put together. I'm a big fan of the open, angular grill, and even the slot and diffuser below it. Makes me wonder if all that airflow will be for a TT Eco Boost. The accent lines below and above the main body line that draws down the side are very helpful. The bottom one adds some definition similar to the bottom line in a 1 series BMW and the line above the gas tank gives the car some haunches/hips. The crease there the trunk and C pillar meet looks pretty sweet, too.
Nice design, Ford.

Deliver me a compact 4WD turbo fugitive from WRC and my checkbook will come out.

I'm excited to drive them both. I'm actually excited to drive anything besides a Nissan. I know that sounds bad but the last two things I have driven have been rather "meh".

Looks awesome in the gunmetal grey. I'd debadge and lower it on black Volks, of course... :)
