A friend told me that when you get rid of the charcoal canister you must leave the vent line near the drivers side headlight unplugged. I've had a bolt in the thing this whole time and the gas tank hasn't blown up or anything. I removed it for a while and when I went to fill up the gas cap did not make it's usual psshshh sound so I plugged the line back up. Anyone know the final word on how you are supposed to leave it?

One way check valve on the line so it can release pressure build up but not suck anything in.

As for the boom, one car sitting in open air won't do anything. Part of the charcoal canister's job is to keep gas fumes contained in the fuel system (duh).

One car leaking is no big deal. Now imagine a hundred cars leaking. Inside a parking garage.

That sort of scenario is why the canister is there.

But will it make a difference performancewise if it is plugged or left open to the air? i.e. fuel pressure. I doubt it but you never know.

I just put a line from the gas vent hardpipe to the nipple on the bottom of the throttle body. I didn't like knowing gas fumes were building up in my engine bay.
