My 2 youngest boys, 2 and 5, are constantly hurting themselves. They both play hockey, t-ball, ride bikes, whip around the house pushing cars or Tonka trucks and are generally going at life full speed. They're bruised and scabbed on a regular basis...as boys should be! Just the other day Dylan (5) was hauling a$$ around the culdesac on his bike and when his foot slipped off the pedal and ended up somehow going over the handlebars. He twisted his seat and the handlebars out of alignment in the process.
During a typical race around the house, Dylan entered the kitchen pushing a truck while being pursued by Thomas, the truck got away from Dylan and he crashed on the tile floor splitting his chin wide open, bout 1.5 inches. This was minutes before we were taking the wifeunit2000 to the airport for deployment. So I butterflied his face closed and we pressed on.
Chicks dig scars.
It's always ugly and scary when your kids get hurt. Remain calm at all costs. If you freak, your kids will freak. All parents should take first aide/buddy care and be certified in CPR. I keep a well stocked first aid closet.
