Has been extended and lowered to be positioned in front of factory Air Dam! Plus you wouldn't be able too see filter Etc. if I still had it covered with my heat shield now would you! Brian I'm not one to just add MOD'S without thinking of the positive and negative. I already have other Temp. reducing MOD'S! Some Pic's are not up to date! Your right it does sound Keewell!

So we know that it looks good and you say that it sounds good, the question is do you gain or lose anything in performance that is measurable?

In order to completely illiminate hot air induction, you would have to take cone filter out of engine compartment!Look other G50 Y33 owners posts (and mine too) how it is done properly! Every cone filter that is left inside of eng compartment will be subjected to unwanted heat even if you have THE best heat shield in the world. Trust us, look at REAL race cars air filter intakes are as far as possible from engine compartment. Even though it looks COOL, you should consider hiding the cone filter behind front bumper.

This is what you need! If you want more power you have to get the filter away from the heat source. What better place than right behind the bumper.

Hey Zinkie, do you have additional photos of the filter location?

It is actually right in front of the wheel well. The intake tube the filter is mounted to is straight down from that 90. This is a y33 but i'm assuming this part of them is somewhat similar.

Here is a pic looking in from the wheel well.

And a better pic of the whole setup.

All comments are always welcomed both positive and negative! You know I like to be different and that's why all G50-Y33 Etc. are unique because not one is exact equal too the next one! No matter how much info you might get from someone else! There will still be slight differences from one car to the next! Like I said earlier there has been more changes since these pic's were taken! You can't beat the ambient air that the factory set-up produces but, I have surpassed air flow quality and reduced my engine compartment Temps. by a lot with minor changes here and there! I will show what I mean when the time comes! The brake fluid is clean! Don't always go by looks because things are not always as they appear! System has been flushed and filled with Valvoline synthetic Brake Fluid! Plus people that have bought parts from me on this forum will tell you that another ABS Module or any other brake components wouldn't be a problem for my self because I have sold a few to members and have another half dozen or so on the self! Fabricating any type of cold air intake shouldn't be a problem for you! Just take your time and do it yourself because time is money and if its not a production product people will charge more than something that is made on a mass produced scale! Thanks for advice Z and placement pic's! Maybe one day I can get you to pull up beside me to see who's making what type of power! I don't know what type of set-up you have and it will be all in fun! I under stand why you have too hide your Air Filter! If you had it in engine compartment you would have problems and it wouldn't be a heat issue! I have raced in the NOPI races on east coast so I do have race experience but, not with Q's! So I do know a little something, something!

it does really look good pop, and i bet it sounds great!!!

i do have a few questions with this mod,,,,,is there a "real world", not "seat of pants" power increase, i.e.- to the rear wheels? i've heard nothing but bad things with the cone-type filters--not enough performance for the added dirt that it lets through,,,true? if you are relocating the filter that low, behind the rear of the bumper, is there a concern for getting it drenched in a huge rainstorm, or driving through a huge puddle? do you have a water shield built in? questions just off the top of my head. like i said, it is a very cool looking mod. looks great when you open the hood and see the chrome pipe leading to the cone, regardless!!!

I don't know but, my CAI looks different now from these pic's! I'll let you know if I find out for sure! Some will say no and some will say yes! I don't know how the under car cone set-up holds up to the elements but, I'm satisfied with what I have! Cone set-up has been around for quite a while but, factory is good for factory and mild performance MOD'S!

Just so you know....I wasn't criticizing in any way. I think it looks great and is probably functional...I was just showing mine because not everyone has seen it. I know for a far my car is not producing the power yours is so the race would be sad haha.
