So a little while back i was changing oil and had the truck on my friends lift. I walked to the rear to inspect tire wear and other BS when i noticed my Tail pipe had snaped! It broke off where the Orignial pipe broke few years back. Right when the pipe curves to go around the rear axle. I have two friends that has had the same problem i just wondered if Anyone else has had similar problems. It was to much money to get it replaced again so ended up cleaning off the rust and welding/ bolting on a sleve for now. Need to work on my suspension first..

I had a similar issue with my 03 Pathy. The pipe rusted through and broke off right at the flange between the main and post-muffler, leaving the post-muffler swinging around whenever I went over bumps (and without the post-muffler, it was a bit noisier, too).

I took out the angle grinder, cut out the rusted section of the pipe/flange, and replaced it with a new section of pipe. Secured it with some u-bolts and it ran good. A more permanent fix would be to take it into a shop and have them weld on a section of pipe, but this quick DIY fix worked just fine.

I had that problem too the muffler broke off at the flange and was just swinging there. I just bought a new muffler on Ebay, I believe it was around $65. Bolted the new one on and it's been working great.

This is a common problem -- the mufflers and pipes are Stainless but the flanges are not. Having a shop weld the original is the best way to go since all the aftermarket ones are not SS.

was a $30 repair at my local muffler shop and I gave him a $20 tip for not being a creep like the other muffler shops and for being a straight up mechanic that says it's a cheap and easy fix give me 30 mins and I'll get it done. The other places I went to tried to sell me a totally new exhaust system.

And that was over 4 YEARS ago and I'm still running the stock exhaust on my 2001.

Hope you have better luck than I did. My local Midas dealer wasnt interested in a repair. Found an independent muffler shop that I ended up doing more biz with (shocks and struts). Your results will hopefully be better.
