Hello everyone

I own a 2005 Nissan Maxima SE - I purchased the car 2nd hand with only 12K miles on it.... brakes were fine..... I now have 36K on it and have found that the brakes rotors are really really warped........ When i step on the brake pedal - the steering wheel shakes violently...........

I travel quite a bit and my route sometimes required that i really hammer the brakes....... example - it's not uncommon for me to be traveling at 80 MPH and have to slow to 25-40mph quite often......

I'd like to upgrade my rotors to prevent this from happening again - but i really don't know what to look for..... I see MANY different brands and styles on ebay for reasonable pricing - just don't know if anybody has had good or bad luck with upgrading their rotors.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated at this point - Has anybody has a similar issues ? if so - let me know what you think.

Thanks for everybody's time

i can be emailed directly at [email protected]

Get Brembo OEM blanks...

You will not regret it. Make sure they are brembos though. Not knock offs. To tell there is a stamped brembo symbol at the end of the rotor.

there are a few things you can do to spruce the life of your brakes up. I have powerslot rotors all around, with bendix organic pads in the rear and hawk performance pads up front. i feel this combination is quite reasonable in price for the performance. i also have russell steel braided brake lines feeding the calipers. since i installed those my braking distance as shortened tremendously.

for your car:

Powerslot Rotors -

775 PSL & 775 PSR front706 PSL & 706 PSR rear

Hawk Performance Pads -

HB448F.610 Front (standard)HB448Z.610 Front (ceramic)HB370F.559 Rear (standard)HB370Z.559 Rear (ceramic)

Russell is not showing any stainless steel braided brake lines for your model right now.

Either of the rotors mentioned are good. I suggest the Hawk pads. I use the Hawk HPS pads. They're a ferro-carbon pad, and work really well.

There's an Ebay seller by the name of Sports Trailerz or similar. I got the front Powerslot rotors and Hawk HPS pads delivered for $220.

I love the combo. The rotors lasted me through 4 sets of pads where as the stock rotors only lasted through 2 pads.

Be careful when turning the powerslot rotors. They lose their grip when they are turned.

You might also check your brake fluid to make sure there aren't any bubbles. I could see that possibly causing some of your woes.

I mentioned the price in my last comment, but nobody ever cares to read mine

The pads are about the same price as the dealers. Hawk HPS run around $70/set (front, back). Rotors will usually put you back about $80-$120/rotor. Rears are more expensive, no clue why.

Do the service yourself. You need a jack and some stands, a couple of sockets, a C-clamp and some of the wonderful anti-squeak goo sold for $1.
