Hey all, I'm not a n00b I just forgot my password and didn't feel like looking it up lol.

Anyway I replaced the thermostat in my car a couple weeks ago, what I need to know is if I put it in the wrong way. I've got the brass air valve at the top, but it gets hot. Not hot hot, but it gets hot enough. It'll stay there for a few minutes, then drop back to normal when it opens. Then it builds back up and does it all over again. I know it's the thermostat because during the period where it had no thermostat in it it never got hot.

I'm thinkin I might have put it in backwards because I couldn't remember how the old one was in it and it didn't exactly come with specific instructions. Who knows the correct way to install it?

its really hard to put in backwards. the spring should be in and the face of the thing should point out to the open. also, the bleeder hole must be up top.

The Bleeder hole is facing up and the spring is facing in.

Is it possible that the thing is just alittle sticky still? or that they gave me a higher temp thermo then a normal stock one?

just be sure that you have completely burped the air outta the system.

it is a possibility that new tstats may stick closed... i "massage" the stat to make sure it will open up before i installed mines. (stant, yea yea yea, i shoulda went OEM for this, but it's working fine)

Let engine get to normal operating temp then open up purge valve sits on top just above thermostat. did you put the new one in boiling water before installing. also ck fan relay switch on lower radiator hose take short piece of pipe and put in boiling water and see if switch closes with ohm meter love 240s but they all seem hard to keep cool
