I had to park my car (away from home) and it wasn't started for a few years. I had some work done on it after 4 years and it was working fine. Then the fan clutch went out taking the radiator with it. Got that fixed but I think the so-called mechanic left out the water!! I drove it 20 miles and it began to over heat (high pitched whine). I drove it straight to another shop. Zero water!! They put water in it and I drove 120 miles home ( it had been somewhere else when it broke down). It did fine. I drove it for a couple of days and it began to overheat like crazy. Drove straight back to the house (2-3 miles). It was parked for a year before I tried to start it again. Dead battery. New battery. Back lights would not go off. Disconnected battery. Talked to local mechanic. He said squirrels or mice might have eaten electrical wires! He said if the engine block was blown it would cost him $2,500 just to GET an engine. Does this sound about right? I have poured $1,500 in it up to this point. I really like this car (all metal!! LOL). If I can get the engine, etc. up and running I planned on having the interior and exterior restored. As the teenage boys around here say, "Cool car!!" This guy comes highly recommended as being honest (ya, right) and a good mechanic. (Unfortunately, my mechanic moved to AZ or NM [Danny where are you when I NEED you!!??] with his family years ago.) Also, when I owned my 240sx (sold to nephew, thought he needed cool car worse than I did-then he wrecked it!!) I knew it was an LE and maybe an s13. With this car I don't know what else to call it. It is a 1980 Datson 200sx hatchback. I have looked on this site and can't find anything that looks like it. A guy I know has a 1980's 300zx and it looks close to that. What should it cost to replace the engine block and the wiring? Can't post pic. What does 'RICE' mean??*********Looking for a stock 1991-93 HATCHBACK 240sx (S13?) with auto everything, MOONROOF, leather seats and in good shape mechanically, interior and exterior with average mileage somewhere within a couple hundred miles that is a reasonable price. (Yes, I am trying to replace the one I sold to Patrick!!)
