dynamat is good stuff. Get the extreme type since it is thinner and works better than the original. Any tips, hmm, well just make sure the surface you're going to put it on is clean. You can try using rubbing alcohol to clean any oils that are on it since the oils make adhesion a real pain in the butt. Foam isn't as good and is also a pain in the butt to use as you've got to waste more time to get the stuff molded for less dampening. You can use polyfill in your box to get more oompf from your woofers. Also if you're looking for that bump in the trunk, you can try using a slit bandpass box although I'm not sure if anyone else but JL is using that slit enclosure for now.
