I was curious as to how many of the people on this forum have owned another convertible before or after their 240SX. This is my first convertible, and my third car, coming off a 1995 240SX. It was also the first convertible I drove, when I took it for a test drive.

How about the rest of you?Anyone a former Miata owner?

just like you the 240sx was my first convertible. and it will probelly be the only convertible i ever own. i think it was the way that the car looks with the top down and the silvia front that had my mind set on the car. And the whole being a rare car was a plus.

out of all the other convertibles on the market their is only one other then the 240 that has caught my eye and its the BMW M3. It just looks damm sexy with the top down.

Congrats on the vert and welcome to the Club

My first car is another 240sx, hahaha.

After the convertible, I can only go t-top at the most, hahaha. At least for a while.

Convertible is so relaxing.

Only Vert I've owned, wanted a 240 Vert since '95 when I got my first coupe and saw them.

But before I bought this one I was looking at a Z32 Vert and M30 Vert.

I had a pearl-white 1992 Infiniti M30 Convertible before this. 3.0L V6, kind of sluggish but still fun to drive with the top down. My kids like the 240 vert much better; they say it's sexier.

My brother's got a Datsun 2000 roadster and my dad's had a Datsun 1600, TR3 and a 1949 Jaguar Mk V drophead coupe that was a blast.

There's just something about open-air motoring.

My best friend had a mustang convertible. So I fell in love with having the top down after riding with him so often.

Now he's moved on to a Supra.. good trade!!!!

Never owned any other convertible. My wife used to want an Eclipse Spyder - then she fell in love with the 240sx convertible.

The only other convertible I can recall riding in was a VW Cabriolet... I met up with TCE members Zach and Bill in Detroit to score some 240 parts from our buddy Marcus. This was back in the summer of '06. Zach drove his sister's car (aforementioned convertible). We decided to go get some coneys and the four of us guys jumped in that stupid little thing with the top down to get some grub.

This event spawned the the question from me as we peeled ourselves out of the clown car: "Hey, what's gayer than four guys in a convertible Cabriolet with the top down? . . . . Nothing."

So now the ongoing joke with TCE is to compare levels of gayness to that standard. So far, the only thing we've come up with is two guys on a Segue...

Gonna go with 3 guys in a pink miata.

Guess my first top down experience was an ex who had a '95 V6 Tang Vert, which really didn't make me want one that much.

The 240SX was my first vert, but my other car, an NX2000 has t-tops. The NX is a much better car all-around.

I wouldn't mind getting another type of vert in the future, but it would need to have a functional roll bar.

I guess i've kinda grown up around them without even realizing it.- grandad had a 71 mustang convertible with the 351 windsor.- dad had a 69 MGB- mom had a 96 mustang vert- aunt has an S2000- different aunt has a 3 series vert

so yeah, this one is my first vert. I really enjoy it for the most part, but I think the only thing that keeps it from having the "complete package" in my book is the lack of a glass window.

I think my ultimate project would be to find another 69 MGB and swap an SR into it.

This is my first vert and third car too, but I had two 850's before it. My friend had a black sr swapped vert a few years ago, and ever since I saw what it was capable of + the coolness of having no roof made me want one.

The first verts I've ever driven were the S2k's when I worked at Honda.

Nope, it's my first and possibly the only one I'll ever own. Just wanted something a little out of the ordinary for my first car. It's the only convertible that I like, everything else seems better off as a coupe. Now if we're talking "roadsters," I certainly wouldn't mind owning an S2000. Went for a ride in one once, not as roomy as the S13 but very nimble nonetheless.

Hey gang,Had to pipe in on this one.... hmm1st car was a 72' Chevy K5 Blazer - fully removable top74' Chevy K5 Blazer - ditto79' Fiat 124 Spyder 180097' Jeep Wrangler93' Nissan 240 Vert (my baby - although now a Silvert)05' Mustang GT Vert (my wife's toy)I'm hoping my kids get the urge to have Verts. My son has mentioned liking the older Mustangs, but I may get the urge to build up either an AC Cobra replica or possible an Year One Camaro Vert.... but I guess I should finish the 240 first...everytime I had to go to a sedan and didn't have a vert, I didn't enjoy driving at much. Something to be said to have wind blowing through the hair (while I still have some..lol). I'm taking a week off from work to try to get something done on the Vert so I can start driving her again. She looks sad in the garage.

OH I FORGOT!!! I had an 88 ( I think... can't remember) Ford Bronco that had the removable hard top. I never had the top off though so I guess I never considered it a "convertible". So take that for what it's worth.

I guess I'll show my age too. First vert was euro '90 Ford Escort XR3i convertible (Superb! I would put it against the 240, even though it was FWD)next up was a 63 Scout'66 mustang conv'76 Scout IIfinally the first 240 vert, which got wrecked by illegal with no insurance who jumped back over the border right before I moved from Cali to MoNew vert (much worse shape than the first) which is recieving a CA18 transplant and silvia facelift w/ acc.

Still have the 2 scouts and the new vert.

Ive had my 240sx vert for 7 years now but also have a 92 miata that Ive driven almost everyday for the past 3. Ive put way more miles on the miata and I feel it handles alot better but at the same time almost all the 240sx bushings are shot and the suspension is stock/original/worn out.

I've owned several turbo eclipse spyders but those are a whole nother breed compared to RWD NA verts.

1964 Austin Healey Sprite (racecar) - still have it after owning it since the mid 80's. Value appreciates as it sits in storage.

1990 Mazda Miata - still have it but selling it. Completely rebuilt everything except the motor - have a turbo head for it and was going to turbo it - but kind of dissapointed with the Miata even though they make great auto-xers. Final straw was being hit on at a Wendy's drive through by a young "male". "nithe car !!"

1970 GTO Convertible. Been in the family since new, and still garage kept with under 3,000 miles in the past 20 years. (it's a keeper for full restoration even though it's very clean)

1992 Nissan 240SX vert WHICH I'm not showing you guys yet She's in the bodyshop getting a colour change - but I'm making is very purty before I debut her in this forum and show you guys what she'll be like. If you want hints...you can head to my site and check out some of my street and race cars and get an idea.

Ahh PDM, I thought that name sounded familiar. You guys have some really nice cars, especially that Dime.

The Miata incident sucked but I couldn't help but lol when I read that.

Any pics of the AH or GTO? I love me some GTOs.

I had one of those 1992 Geo Metro (my ex-wife's car) convertibles. It was WAY too small, and it had a 1.0 L 3 cylinder. It would go 0-60 in about 3.9 minutes. With gas prices these days though..... it would feel much sexier now. Ha ha ha. I actually like the first generation of the Chrysler Sebrings as well (1996-2000,) though I never owned one. The JXI models have the leather and alloys and offer a nice blend of sport and luxury. I think style wise, they are my third favorite affordable vert out there. There are just too many of them on the road though. I like having a car more unique. My fave style-wise is hands down a Karmann Ghia, but I have to have SOME amenities like AC and cruise control. They are super sexy cars, but they are pre-historic in terms of drivability and performance without sinking megabucks into them.

tube frame dime is stripped to bare shell right now, being rebuilt for SCCA E Prepared Solo 2. Fresh dry sumped L18, with Quaiffe Sequential, 3 piece Panasports.... hope to hit Kansas for the US Nationals by 2009. (site will be updated with rebuild of the car)

In meantime being racing SM with the KADET, but National level SM is crazy expensive. (F1 of Solo Sedan racing)
