I worked my way thru HS and College working for an imported car dealership. Fun job. Drove a ton of unusual cars, plus learned a few things.

ive learned most of what i know from my employment history.

i started with taking all the tech and automotive classes in high school. then when i graduated, i got a job at a gas station pumping gas, and now im a mechanic, tow truck driver, but i learned my electricity, electronics, and computers first. [ in school, but mostly on my own]

if you want to learn about cars, and your still in high school, start there if theres classes, or get a job at a shop and learn as much as you can without annoying the mechanics.

Its annoying, my school is to cheap to get classes im interested in. No autoshop or metalshop. Im probably going to take a class at my community college next year for autoshop. And over the summer, if I can I want to get a job at Grand Prix tires, if my bro can hook it up.

oh, that definately sucks. i had two auto classes every semester all the way through high school. i would cut other stupid classes to spend time in the shop. we had a lift, tools, ect ect. i rebuilt a chevy 350 in 11th grade. we had a 350, a 3800 V6, a mazda rotary, and a toyota 3sgte to take apart and play around with.

one time i spent my lunch time in the shop helping my teacher to try to get the class to understand how a rotary works.

I used to work at an Auto Hobby shop on base. I never had a chance to work on my car because I was helping everyone else so much that at the end of the day I didn't want to touch a car.

i love having autoshop and welding in school. my plan is to go to UTI next year and from there go on to a high end car dealer ie. mercedes and bmw. the only thing that sucks is my shop teacher is cheap and we have no tools to work on cars or cars to work on.

Don't ever become a delivery driver! Though that's kind of an obvious piece of advice, huh? :thinker

Im doing car audio installations, and not the simple kind. Lots of fun custom stuff, but nothing under the hood on car, except my own. I learned my mechanics from my father and grandfather. went to Mobil Dynamics in Pheniox Az, for my electronis, and minor auto accessories. But still its a fun job, if i dont go def before im 25

I worked with my dad for a couple years doing custom and Hot Rod stuff.

Did a couple years after that working as a tech in a Dodge/Jeep and later in a Ford dealership.

After Sept 11, I joined back up with the Navy as a Corpsman to go kick some butt.
