Well, I have that too, but I have the FSM pages that cover the whole EVAP system, and I think that they wold be a good resource in the tech section if they were in the how to page. Unfortunately, the files are too large for me to post as a regular user.

you can upload them here and link them to the forum you ask the question in. What do you need to know I know that system by heart and can probably answer your question with out the pictures.

I am pulling an 0903 and an 0705 ((P0440 and P0446) code. I have unstuck the plunger in the valve behind the rear wheel, but the code comes back after a reset. MPG and performance are fine- 26-27 MPG over the last 5000 miles.

It is just the CEL in my face that is driving me nuts- plus I cannot pass an emissions inspection in VA w/ the light on.

Any tips or pointers? Any clue as to what I might need to replace?

97 I30t.

the vent valve(the valve mounted to the canister you unstuck) is not closing properly during the evap self test allowing there to be a small leak in the system during testing. If you remove the valve from the canister and look into its port the hose attaches to I am willing to bet there is rust on the pintel inside. The only real way to fix that is to replace the valve as it drags every time it operates and will not close all the way.

That is my initial thought, but there are 2 complications to that. 1, even with my VIN and the current Canister part number, no Infiniti dealer around here seems to be able to figure out what parts I need. Second, there was a TSB or something o that effect that changed the parts. Accordig to 2 dealers, the parts on my car were replaced by new parts, bit noone knows the proper parts for my car.

It is more than a little frustrating, because I just want to replace the parts and be done with it.

If I gave you my VIN could you possibly look into the proper replacement parts?

just knowing your year and model car is all I need. I know why they are having difficulty its because of how nissan parts fishe is layed out. It is in vaccum piping and a bit difficult to see but it is in the cut out diagram in the bottom left corner of their picture. it shows a small valve attached to the side of the canister. I will see if I can come up with a part number for you tomorrow. give me your pro date off the door jam incase theres a change over during the year.

The TSB they are taking about has to do with the purge volume control valve under the hood that throws a code P1447. They updated that valve and its mounting braket.

VIN:JNKCA21D2VT501709

Parts listed by local dealer are:14950-56U17 and 14935-54U06, although there have been a few dealres who said that 14950-56U18 supersceded 14950-56U17, and that I really need a 14935-54U05 as opposed to a 14935-54U06.

According to Pinnace Infiniti's website, 14950-56U17 is Cali-spec and -56U18 is Fed-spec. They said on the phone that 14935-54U05 and 14935-54U06 are functionally identical, but I did not ask them about the 56U17 versus 56U18 differences.

there is a service file on the valve after that prodate but I did not veiw it but it does come up with the 54u06 as the update. as far as 14950 part not sure what that is but I suspect its the fresh air inlet tube.

Unfortunately the previous owner removed those labels. I have a carfax @ my office with all of the info, but I am not there (until Thursday).

The 14950 is the canister itself.

My screws that hold the valve to the canister are seized up. Only one comes out- the other has stripped out of the plastic. Due to this, I need to replace the canister and the valve together.

Don't I know it.

Anyway, I found all of the parts for about $60.
