Like the title says, I have a wrecked 240sx with a complete running RB20DET/LSD swap in it. Some guy took a sudden right turn from the inside lane and cut me off and that was all she wrote. My front end is caved in up to and including the radiator.

This would naturally seem like the perfect time to spend my insurance money on a silvia (or sylvia, whatever) front end but I do not want to even try to restore this car. It had a warped frame on the rear anyway so I just want to strip out all my goodies and start with something fresh...soooo.....

My first two ideas are to 1) find a 240sx and direct swap everything. and 2) preferably find a D21 hardbody and swap into it. Or 3) give up on the asthetic value and just let a body shop pull my nose out of my engine bay then just stare at it's ugliness every day. Or 4) worst of all: sell the car to someone else needing the motor swap and lose money on my stuff.

What is even more frustrating is that my insurance company "totaled" the car and wrote me a check for $1300, so that is about all that I've got to start this project.

I reeeeaaaaallllly want to buy a nissan truck and swap this in to start a minitruck but I have heard that the motor mounts have to be relocated and the driveshaft has to be shortened?? Does anyone have any input on this swap, like how much it costs for a custom driveshaft (if needed) or how hard it is for an average mechanic to relocate the motor mounts 7inches forward??

Any other ideas? The car still runs/drives exactly the same, but my radiator hose is crimped so I don't run it for more than 5 minutes or so at a time. The plate across the front end caved in, moving the radiator toward the engine and thus, the fenders at the very front pulled toward the center.

I hate that I have loved this car so much and now this car is at its end. Another 240 just won't be the same so I want to bag another minitruck and take this sweet setup with me...

1 - if you haven't cashed the check yet then talk to a lawyer... Not your fault and the 240 is worth a lot more than that. If it was totaled then they need to pay for replacement of vehicle, not some BS appraised value. Call up any number of shops across the nation who do your conversion and get estimates of replacement cost for your car.

2 - If your frame isn't tweaked then PLEASE repair it!!! Too many 240s are being turned into little cubes. I got a donor front end stripped, shipped, welded in and painted for pretty cheap on my S14 that took a totaling similar to what yours sounds like.

If you do decide to put it into a truck just nab the cross member from the 240, chop and swap and weld away.

you looking to buy? i don't want to part with it so I am looking into the d21 hardbody for a swap. If I give up on that, I will probably sell it before I found another good 240 shell.

They paid more than the book value for a salvage title 1990 hatch, so I was like whatever. That gives me about $1000 to buy another 240 s13 and swap all my stuff over to a clean-title clean shell.

I'm really ready to just wash my hands of it all because my d21 hardbody swap idea is looking too complicated for my finances. I have listed my car in the "Classifieds: Engine" section here:

zer...or-it

When I talk about it, it sounds like a junky car but everyone I know loved it and it would give some people nightmares just remembering the take off OR the endless top-end.

Does $3500 sound like too much for a parts car that can be fixed and comes with a COMPLETE running RB20DET, transmission, exhaust, IC, fuel pump, EVERYTHING that would come on a running car??

Anyone seen this video (not my car, but it felt about the same): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXQt3164sJY

Awesome video...a must see for all the 240 guys & gals
