Okay, here is the problem, I have an 89 coupay with an SR20DET swap and the tach does not work. I replaced the tack from the SOHC with an SR tach but still no workie. I have read fourms and searched differnt fourms for an answer. I do not ask many questions, much rather find the answers myself but I am lost here. What I have read is just swap the tach and it should work. I did take the face of the SOHC and put it on the SR tach, I have a HUD cluster.

Did you check for power or reference signal at the tach?

How would I know if I had a bad tach or what other problem. What kind of singal or current would a tach wire show?

Search for FSM on the search box that is on the top right. After you got the FSM for your car, figuere out which is the signal wire. If your car is idleing you should have some sort of voltage there. As your RPM's go higher, than that voltage should increase.

Or you just might have a bad tach. Like me
