Its a warning light letting you know a bulb is out . or drawing to much or too little current ..

Mine sometimes came on when I turned the headlights on but the problem went away after I replaced the bulbs , even though they werent burnt out

It's likely a tail light bulb or high mount (3rd brake light) bulb.

They're brakes, not breaks.

There are 2 fuse boxes. One under the hood and one under the driver's side dash. Just read on the fuse cover what the fuses are.

I am having the same problem now. The red light comes on every time I hit the brakes. One of my rear passenger side brake lights is out. I looked in the owner's manual and it gave instructions on how to change all the bulbs except these. For the rear brake lights it says to take it to the dealer. Is there something complicated about changing these lights? Has anyone done it before? If so, please post your results. I'd like to get this changed today. It's rather annoying seeing that light come on every time I hit the brakes.

From what I can tell, there are only 4 bolts that need to be removed to release the light. What's next? What bulb do I need?

There are only a couple plastic screws holding in the housing. You just have to remove the trunk trim(carpet) and pop out hte rear housing.

I think the bulbs might be 1189, not sure tho

I'll take another look at it this evening, but I don't recall seeing any plastic screws, only metal ones. I should be able to figure it out. Thanks.
