Hi guys.

I'm having a bit of problems with my 1989 240SX..

My brake system is having some issues. When I depress the brake pedal the pedal goes to the floor. Now I've bled my brake system multiple times and the resistance is there for about a day before it heads back down to the floor. I've changed my master cylinder and that has not allieviated the problem.

Could it be one of the calipers? I've not seen any brake fluid leaking from anywhere in the car so I'm stumped.

Any ideas??

Thanks! Great forum you guys have here!

the master cylinder sounds messed up, maybe you bled it wrong.

The thing is I had the same problem with the previous master cylinder. Hence why I replaced it.

You didnt answer nonchalant's question.....Was the master cylinder properly bled??? No offense but if you forgot to do this before you put the new one on, you have big time air on the system.....if theres no leaks anywhere else....or you got another master cylinder defective one.

Yes it was properly bled. However even if it wasn't there would be no resistance on the pedal. The resistance stays where it should for about a day and then it goes right to the floor again. Like I said. REALLY WEIRD.

If you pump the brakes up are they solid and does the pedal stay up while you hold them on?

yes it stays up. Stays solid. then when I try the next day the pedal goes right to the floor with no resistance.

Could it be a slave? Don't know where that is...

Does the brake fluid in the reservoir go down at all?

did you check under the car to see where fluid could be draining out of a pin hole?

There's got to be a leak somewhere...all that pressure can't just disappear can it? Maybe the pistons in the calipers are leaking? but then there would be a small puddle or wet spot right?

Pull the rear wheels and check the rear brakes. Sometimes a bad adjuster in the rear calipers will stop working.

yes actually the fluid goes down in the master. But I can't figure out where it's leaking... there are no telltale signs under the car.

Sounds like a leak to me. It would slowly leak out over a day and cause it to do that.
