I have had a J30 for about 3 years and it is a good car. i have been geting into drifting and i think the car was made to go sideways but it needs a little work first. i was wondering if anyone has odne a manual tran swap or if s14 suspension would bolt up to the j's. if anyone knows please let me know...thanks

There has definitely been a MT swap into a J30, I'm sure someone will chime in and let you know who did it, and some links to the thread.

I know it was a lot of work, and there were some big problems to overcome to do the swap though

Good luck!

I could be wrong, but I believe the J30 is heavy.. but if you think it can compete with lighter cars, go for it. I always think that the j30s and m30s are outkasts that infiniti really ignored.

tuning for the J30 is Zero.. you gonna have to do some R&D to see what works.

Some people have done the vg30dett.. but if you cant find all the components, maybe a 5spd conversion will help... I'm pretty sure the Z32 transmission will bolt up.. just gotta do the driveshaft and clutch stuff.

yeah the j30 is pretty heavy, but it got some shuv. and I am really doing this more for the fun of it any. So i know that i cant keep up with a sr or anything, but i still think it would be fun.

oh, and my J30 is a 94 with 165000, and can still take an *** kickin

go to http://www.cardomain.com/id/bruceDK. This guy has vidoes of him drifting his J30. It is really easy. If you did a 5spd man swap, where can we put the clutch. There isnt any room

The clutch goes between the engine and transmission or did you mean clutch pedal?
