I pulled these pics from Woodward group before someone wised up and took them down. It debuts at NAIAS later today.

Personally, I think it's a massive improvement, but making a minivan look better isn't that difficult.

I agree, It's not that bad looking given it's a mini-van. Hopefully "Frysler" will build them to be more reliable than the previous generations.....naaaaaaaah.

I have no serious objection to their using the name Pacifica instead Town and Country. That's because T&C's reliability reputation over the years hasn't exactly been good. I would have guessed based on the amount of new Pacificas Chrysler sold in its final year of production (2008?) that "Antarctica" woulda made a better name. They had had near sub zero sales. :)

Yeah I didn't hear very good things about the pacifica when they were making it.
...then again, I seldom hear anything good about any Chrysler product.

I think the ultraround Chrysler nose fits much better on the minivan than it does on their sedans.

Honestly, I always thought "Town and Country" was an ill-fitting name for a minivan. It always felt like it should be on the back of a big ol' sedan with a trunklid you can land an F35 on. It's also a heck of a mouthful, and a little pretentious for a modern "sporty" FCA product. Once the Caravan was killed off, I wondered what would happen with the van's name. Pacifica, though, is an odd choice--it has history, but not exactly positive history.

Lots of early positive reviews followed by lots of problems.

They were way ahead of the market on that one but the Daimler years for Chrysler were their absolute worst.

Transmissions
Ball joints
Electrical failures
Fuel systems
Corrosion, the structural kind -- Inexcusable for a vehicle engineered in the northern midwest.

Chrysler has so many cool names to draw from -- Chronos, Citadel (now a Durano trim?), Atlantic, Hornet, Demon, Vision -- why settle for one so recently tainted?

Because they have no faith in that vehicle and don't want to taint another one of their names?

One of my wife's friends leased a Pacifica back when they first came out. He didn't seem to mind it, but then again, it was a 24 month lease and he turned it in before things had a chance to break.

I agree there are better model names from Chrysler's past that they could've used instead of a borderline clunker like Pacifica. Perhaps some inspiring names like PT Cruiser, Aries, Reliant , Calibur....er wait.. never mind. :chuckle:

The real problem with this car is that it still has the damned 9 speed, and I can't imagine having more heft to shift making its behavior any better.

It looks so much like the Toyota Sienna I'd expect it to be a Chinese manufacturer.
