Spybot is good for clearing out spyware, datamining and those annoying pop-ups.

Another choice would be Ad-ware at http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/ I think it is still free.

I would highly suggest using a multi-layered approach to guarding against pop-ups. I would suggest using a good pop-up stopper. There are many out there on the market. I use "pop-up stopper" at http://www.panicware.com/proce...PSPRO

Firewalls do wonders as well for blocking annoying pop-up messages like the ones through MSN Messenger.

Not sure and haven't done enough "watching", but I think I only get the pop-up's on NICO if a certain (yet to be determined) memeber has posted in the thread with an annoying link in their sig???? Can this be checked?

Be sure you have the latest versions of both. Spybot will find spyware that AdAware does not. But it will flag necessary registry entries for updating installed programs as well. Not for newbies.

I hate popup software. I just switched to Mozilla Firebird as my browser.... no popups anymore, and I don't need to run software to waste resources.

AND. . instead of having a bunch of windows floating around, I have one, with tabs on it. .:D

GREAT for forums / ebay, I go to the main listing page. lock that tab, and then I run through and click on each topic that interests me, it loads, then at my leisure I go through them

I agree. Mozilla does a great job supressing pop-ups (and it's open source).

Yeah, I had Opera in the past. . . but was so turned off by it, I never wanted to switch from IE again.

But Mozilla is familiar the very first time ya use it. . it's EXCELLENT for forums, as well. . .just open the listing, lock it, and keep clicking on the threads u wanna open. . then they just open in the background in their own tabs
