I was just on the road the other day, and I saw this one hatchback with a painted center panel with holes on the reverse lights. I was just wondering if that was custom or if anyone knew where/how to get/make these. I'd like to cover up the middle rather than fork over $600 for my Type-X taillights....but who knows right? Holla back people~!

TIA-R

one easy way u can do this if you have a black car...is get some dark *** black vinyl (plastic vinyl...the stuff they use to tint windows)..."limo" tint is a good idea...and just put that stuff on how they tell you to do the windows...it'll be dark as hell and when you put it in reverse the lights will shine through...it might be a good idea to get brighter lights though just as a secondary precaution...

geez, tint works ok guys, but actual vinyl like logo material works best, or paint, just trim out a circle or the whole rev light, also tint works well for your turn signals in th rear, with 5 % walmart type tint applied well expect it to last about a year or two b4 it starts to fray. but dont do these things if youll be putting it back to oem one day, or youll likly need new lenses

Its not that, its just the center panel. Its got the entire thing covered and painted. There's just holes on it so that the reverse taillights will show i guess. Its not a tint cause it looks like the body of the car....

its basically just a sheet metal like panel cover for the center panel. Its so that the center panel looks like its part of the body. Just look at the sil-80 from initial D for a reference.....

well, i think i should just cover up that part, sometimes i feel like the car needs more body/painted areas.....I come from a del Sol, so I kinda get to miss the two split-taillights-*** look....get it???? ......i'm lit~!

i wouldnt mind the koiki lights, but I'm not about to spend $600 on them. If they were cheaper, then hell yeah I'd buy them. But I would much rather spend $25-$50 on my taillights and the rest on performance. Ya feel????

I believe a company called DNL racing or something like that makes replica panels that are supposedly of OEM quality. They can make the carbon center piece say whatever on it. 180SX, TYPEX, SUPER JDM COOL GUY, whatever.

I took mine apart and blasted off all the paint, now it's just red with no "240sx" in the center, I was thinking of tinting the turn signals to match my black car. I had the center panel painted on my other white hatch. I thought it looked good, just paint the plastic after masking the reverse lights, you can get a replacement on ebay , or you can get them for $50 from the dealer new.

yea, seriously, where are you guys looking at buying the Kouki lights for $600 from?i got mine for about $450, and if you have any sort of connections, i'm sure you could get it for less. anyways, the painted-over middle section on the stock lights looks stupid. just keep it red, it flows.

well, what kind of paint should I use? Should I paint them outside? or take em apart and paint the inside? Should I clearcoat? Help would be nice, I'm not worried about trying them, since I have 2 hatches and I'll just use 1 and replace the other with the koukis later on.....>:)
