So I have been dreading the day I take off my spoiler. Hearing stories of terrible rust. Today I decided to get it over with.. I unbolted it and yanked it off. underneath it was moist! bad sign! I also found there had been bondo work done to fix previous rust problems from the first owner. Why he put the rust sponge back on I don't know? I will be taking it to the body shop soon but I dont know if it will ever look as good as stock, so i might be in the market for a subtle spoiler something like...Megan racingI was looking for this style but maybe not carbon fiber. Itsnot in my budget at the moment.

Any suggestions?

subtle - 2 dictionary resultssub⋅tle–adjective, -tler, -tlest.1. thin, tenuous, or rarefied, as a fluid or an odor.2. fine or delicate in meaning or intent; difficult to perceive or understand: subtle irony. 3. delicate or faint and mysterious: a subtle smile. 4. requiring mental acuteness, penetration, or discernment: a subtle philosophy.5. characterized by mental acuteness or penetration: a subtle understanding.6. cunning, wily, or crafty: a subtle liar.7. insidious in operation: subtle poison.8. skillful, clever, or ingenious: a subtle painter.

That spoiler is far from subtle. What about getting a rust free hatch and going spoilerless.

Yea no spoiler is your best bet...I'd just go to a junk yard and get a new hatch if i was you...Only like $40 bucks if not less, i kinda want to get a new hatch for mine...The lady that owned my car before me put a stupid sticker on the inside and now i cant take the rest of it off because it'll mess up my F***ing defrost oh well good luck with the hatch

Yeah I just wanted to see some spoilers if mine didn't come out well. I'm going to the junkyard this weekend. I know there's a 240 their but not sure if it has a rust sponge on it.

Why does everyone hate the stock spoiler? I love the stock spoiler on my coupe..

People hate the Hatch spoilers because they are foam construction that holds moisture and causes the hatch to rust out. Much different and more damaging then the coupe spoilers.

My hatch only rusted where the holes were for the plastic snaps. I dont know why there would be any hatches at the junk yard without rust. Regardless, you still have the quarter sizes holes for the snaps to repair.

Go on car-part.com, search for a hatch, call the yard, see what condition the hatch is in, and buy an appropriate hatch. There are thousands of hatches in junkyards all over the country. Unless your just plain lazy and not all there, you should be able to find a clean wingless hatch for around 100 bucks. Then get a 180sx kouki wing, because that is the best looking wing for a hatch, and install, that is unless you like wingless which is nicest IMO.

It took me 6 months of searching the junkyards every weekend, but it was worth it.

car-part.com lists junkyards coast to coast. If you need 6 months to find on on there then like I said...

your new hatch appears to be black. i imagine an amateur just fg the holes. how is that an improvement. why not remove your spoiler and fill the holes with fiberglass.

dumb question: does the hatch look better without the rear windshield wiper? Mine seem to look better. I have never use it much anyway.

there are at least 6 quarter size holes assuming no rust. you at least need fiberglass.

i dont know how you would weld metal because it is hard to get to underside

why not just buy a spoiler that cover that part. ie pdm racing or ebay

6 huh? lol when i bought my car it had 13 holes. I dont know what they wanted to do but it was pretty ugly. I bondo'd it and it's fine. You dont need fiberglass, unless you plan to poke the hole with a screwdriver or something...

Hartlaubs in Gettysburg. Tons of stuff. I saw like 6 other 240s. The people were very mean though.
