Hatch release

Ive had 2 240's, and neither of the trunk release's work. Is there a way to fix this, a broken wire/cable, some type of spring that has to be replaced? This if for a fastback btw..

I hope so.. Mine doesn't work either. I have to lift it up while holding the latch up with the seat belt.

hey me too, I usually use a pen though to hold the latch up.

why not have a friend see if the mechanism is moving when you pull the lever... if it doesnt move then you have some sort of cable problem, if it does move then maybe your lifters or the springey thing that pops it up is busted.... process of elimination?

take off the trim panel from around the side of the latch that has the cable going to it (not the side that's on the hatch lid), unscrew the two 10mm nuts, and move the latch up or down and see if it works better. i had the same problem and after i slid mine down it worked perfectly! then i snapped one of the studs off of it so it always slides around and now it works even worse. i need to get a whole new latch now

yea, everyone i've ever talked to has always had hatch problems. they should have been a recall!!

My cable isn't broken, the hatch just doesn't popup when I pull the lever, I have to hold the latch up and then pull up at the same time.

Also, my lifters work beautifully, thank god.
