I was just curious if anyone else has a hatch that doesn't open all the way by itself? I can't quite remember what my hatch was like when I first picked up my car. However, if I open my hatch and lift it to about chest high, it won't go up the rest of the way by itself. I need to lift it a little more then the struts, or whatever they are, will finally take the hatch up the rest of the way. Just wanted to check and see if this is normal.

Mine opens all the way without problems, but my friend's Versa does the same thing as yours. From what the dealer told us, the wing installed on her car's hatch keeps the door from opening completely by itself. So I guess it's normal.

Have the OEM wing, and don't have that problem.

I have all standard equipment, but my hatch will open on it's own after lifting it open just past the bumper. I do remember that during the coldest part of last winter it was slower opening all the way, but it still worked.

I would make an appointment with your nearest Nissan dealership ASAP! well its not a big problem but it causes you to do more then expected so that makes it an ASAP matter!

I wouldn't even bother. The struts are not intended to raise the hatch for you, they are only there to assist in raising the hatch, and to prevent it from crashing down on you. The dealer will most likely do nothing, as it sounds like they're working properly.

...On second thought, mine opens by itself once I open it approx. 6 inches.
