Hi everyone.

I was recently sandwiched in my 2008 Versa SL by a truck from behind. There was close to $6000 in damages. Now that the car is repaired, there is one outstanding issue. The little rubber button unlocker on the hatch does not work any longer. I took it back to the place that did the repairs, who ordered a new hatch handle assmebly ($500...) and when they installed it still didn't work.

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice. When I got the car back the automatic full up and down drivers side window no longer functioned either (auto-window worked, just not the full up and down with the extra click on the button). They found a code type thing to fix that (ie. roll down, turn car off, put in N, start again, roll up...). Anyone know of something similar for the rear hatch? The shop can't seem to figure it out... it's annoying.

Thanks.

Dumb question: Did they check all the fuses? There is a distribution module in the engine area that most people don't know is there. It's on the driver's side (a black cover). if you pop it loose from the white plastic tray it sits in, you can look at the backside which houses all the fuses. It may be in there.

Do you have I-key or just basic keyless entry? I am assuming I-key because of the SL model.

Not all SLs have I-key - only the ones with the Premium package do, so yes, it is possible that this is just a regular hatch that opens with the button.

If I were you I'd take a harder stand with them - they need to restore the car to its full functionality and if they can't do it they need to find someone who can. Not being able to open the hatch is BASIC functionality.
